MARC CASSLAR
President
Marc Casslar is a dancer, choreographer, and producer and has been involved in a variety of historic dance forms since 1977 and Victorian, Civil War Era, and Ragtime dancing since 1984. He is the founder and director of the Vintage Dance Society and its performing troupe, Polite Society. He has conducted research into and taught historic dance for more than 25 years. He has taught at a variety of historic dance weeks including Newport, San Diego, New Orleans, Cincinnati, and Mackinac Island. He routinely teaches at vintage dance weekends and precepts balls throughout the United States. He has taught Victorian Era dancing and precepted at Victorian Era balls for reenactor groups as well as city, towns, and museums looking to recreate historic social events. In addition, he has produced, choreographed for, and/or performed in numerous stage and screen productions, with an occasional television show thrown in for good measure. When not dancing, performing, choreographing, producing, etc. Mr. Casslar runs an environmental consulting firm, GeoQuest, based in Bloomfield, Connecticut.
KATELYN KAPLAN
Director of Digital Media
Katelyn Kaplan is a designer, marketing specialist, and event planner that has over 10 years of experience in the field. Katelyn has a diverse background with experience in education, technological strategic planning, grant writing, and accessibility initiatives. Katelyn combines her variety of skills with her passion for teaching providing a unique approach to digital media. She specializes in working with non-profits and adapting small businesses to a digital world.
MARTHA GRIFFIN
Producer
Martha Griffin is a dancer, choreographer, performer, and dance teacher that has been involved in vintage dance for more than 25 years. She has taught at numerous vintage dance weeks and weekends and teaches and precepts balls routinely. With a background in dance beginning at age six, Ms. Griffin has studied the modern dance techniques of Martha Graham, Jose Limon, and Murray Louis, as well as ballet, jazz, and tap. When not dancing, Ms. Griffin is a massage therapist with Therapeutic Massage Associates in West Hartford, Connecticut.
KANDIE CARLE
Producer
Kandie Carle is a professional actress whose theatre credits include Shakespeare and musical comedy. As a dancer, Ms. Carle has performed in musicals and with ballet and opera companies. She has been involved with vintage dance for over 20 years and has been a producer with Specialty Productions since its inception. She is one of the founders and the director of the East Haddam Stage Company. Currently, Ms. Carle also has a one woman show- “The Victorian Lady” and is the producer of the one woman show - “They Called Me Lizzy. . ., from Slavery to the White House”.
