The Vintage Dance Society is dedicated to the reconstruction and preservation of the music and dances of the Victorian and Ragtime eras (circa 1840 to 1925). The Society works with theatrical and film production companies, organizations, festivals, museums, etc. to develop theatrical performances (for stage and film), workshops (as an opportunity to learn the dances of these eras) and period social events (as an opportunity to step back in time and enjoy these dances in the setting they originated in).. Periodically, the Society also hosts workshops, formal balls, and informal dances as a chance to meet other vintage dance enthusiasts, and to learn new dances, and to hone one's dance skills. Kandie Carle, a member of The Vintage Dance Society, has been working in the theatre since 1980 as an actress, dancer, and singer throughout the US, and abroad. Her performance resume covers the spectrum from Shakespeare to Musical Comedy. Kandie lives in East Haddam CT, and does a variety of acting and theatre events throughout the area, including vintage dancing demonstrations.
